Maison Martin Margiela for H&M
As one of the foremost designer collaboration retailers, H&M has once again set the fashion world abuzz. By now every fashionista knows that Maison Martin Margiela is the latest designer to partner with H&M. The global launch event celebrating this partnership was attended in NYC by the likes of Julian Moore, Kanye West (both wore Margiela.)
Narciso Rodriguez for Kohl’s
Some of the most talked about items in this collection are the color block shift dresses. Narciso did not shy away from color for this collection, with many pieces flaunting color combinations. Another plus to the collection is that many of the pieces easily go from day to night. Said Mr. Rodriguez, “This collection was an exciting way to make my design aesthetic more affordable and accessible to everyone.
Available Nov. 7 at Kohl’s - multiple locations; kohl's.com
The other heavyweight in the realm of designer collaborations is Target. Its latest partnership is with Neiman Marcus and coincides with the 50th Anniversary of the CFDA. 24 CFDA designers; both established and emerging (such as Carolina Herrera, Marc Jacobs, Proenza Schouler and Altuzarra, etc) were brought on board for this colab. Each designer created between one and three pieces and most of the items are priced below $70. The collection includes over 50 items from clothing and accessories to home decor and electronics. The line will be available online and in-store from both retailers, however we predict a frenzied dash the minute these gifts hit shelves.
Duro Olowu for JC Penny
The London based designer’s collection will feature his signature bold prints. Said Olowu, "I treated it like a collection, all the details you normally find on my clothing, you have here." Although Mr Olowu’s work has garnered a cult like following(the first lady definitely likes his work)he is yet to be a household name in the US. Hopefully this collaboration will get him there since fashion bloggers on twitter are certainly getting the word out on this colab.
Available March 2013 - JCP stores and online
